Find the source first
- Rising damp — moisture wicking up from the base
- Penetrating damp — rain entering through the external face or cracks
- Condensation — humid indoor air meeting a cold surface
Treat, then refinish
Each source needs a different fix — external sealing, crack injection, breathable plaster, or better ventilation. Only after the source is handled should you replaster and repaint. That is how the repaint cycle finally ends.
